In June this year I returned to  teach at Manoir du Battutt in la Corrèze region of France. The weather was a bit temperamental but the light and colours glowed with a richness that is what makes French light so special. I painted the rich landscape around the property, looking at familiar subjects and new ones. My bedroom window looked out onto the sunrise over the hills and each morning I chased the light as it strengthened, some times through mist and cloud. The late afternoon was of course the golden time to paint with warm sun soaked colours.
